Tonight's the night!

The pictures have all been hung. I'll be putting up the last of the title blocks this morning. My house is, once again, denuded of art.
Looks like it's about time to launch this thing!
Hope to see everyone at the opening for Green Jello tonight! The gallery opens at 11:00 AM. The party starts at 7:00 PM. But if you can't make it today, swing by before March 11th and we'll be just as happy to see you!
I saw "Pan's Labyrinth" while I was working on the show, and as you can see my work took on a distinctly Alice in Wonderland quality. I'm very happy with all of it.

Down to the wire!

I'm down to the wire finishing up pieces for Green Jello, but sometimes a fast-approaching deadline can work wonders for creativity. I'm certainly very happy with what I have so far. Finished "Butterfly" yesterday. What do you think?

In the Family Way

I finished "In the Family Way" along with eighteen small portraits yesterday and took them to Picture This for framing an wiring. Very, very happy with the pieces in the show so far. The image incorporated into this post is a detail from "Family Way".

Told you it was surreal. It even includes a bit of original poetry --though I make to claim to excellence in that area. The poem is as follows:

In the family way
transcendent
different yet the same
challenging
depthless
conjured by a name.

So when you see the full piece, think 'Rockey & Bullwinkle'-watch-me-pull-a-rabbit-out-of-my-hat combined with familial secrets. The arbitrariness of these relationships we're born into, and yet how they define us in so many ways.

Probably too deep for a bunch of bunnies, but you know...

In the Family Way

It's funny how a project can evolve while you're working on it. The current piece I'm doing, "In the Family Way" was envisioned as a slightly surreal celebration of spring. Now it's a slightly surreal commentary on family. Complete with original poetry and a whole lotta rabbits. I don't know why and yet it makes me happy.

Art & Invention

Dropped off ten new and new-ish pieces for Art & Invention today. I think "Secret Agent Man" (seen at left) is my favorite of the bunch. The image was inspired by a picture I took of my son Ethan at Christmas-- and a healthy adoration of Casino Royale. At least the first part of it.
New show opening soon at Art & Invention. Looks unbelievable so far. Check it out!
